According to a Counterpoint Research, Huawei topped the market in April 2020.

Huawei had a 19% of the market share while Samsung managed 17% in the same period in consideration. One may argue this won’t be for long. Yes, that’s true. However, it’s worth mentioning sice this is the first time Huawei has managed to surpass Samsung.

Reasons behind the Huawei success

  1. Patriotic Chinese buyers. Many Chinese, according to the report, are sticking with their home company to show their support for Huawei in the ongoing USA-China trade war.
  2. Drop in sales of Samsung smartphones in key regions. Thus: India, USA, Latin-American, and some parts of Europe. This is as a result of the ongoing pandemic.

Huawei’s Nova 5T and Samsung’s A71 are among the most popular choices. These are making the rounds in Ghana for their perfect blend between price and functionality.
