There had been several rumours linking the start player to big clubs such as Barcelona. Shortly after leaving Chelsea, however, there were brief speculations linking Willian to Arsenal. The move is finally completed.
Arsenal have confirmed the signing of free agent Willian following his departure from Premier League rivals Chelsea. The Brazilian winger, 32, signed a three-year deal with Mikel Arteta’s side.
Willian spent seven years at Chelsea. Reports indicated Chelsea were willing to offer him a two-year contract but the player was holding out for just one more season, which Arsenal have offered.
Willian scored 37 goals and had 33 assists in 234 appearances, starting 168 of those games. The just ended 19/20 season was his best in terms of involvement with goals.
Opta statistics show he a total of 16 involvements. That is nine goals and seven assists.
With the 19/20 season extended into June and July due to the coronavirus pandemic, Willian entered the record books as he became the first player to have scored a Premier League goal in every month of the year.
