Information just in suggests that Sammy Gyamfi, the national communications director of the national democratic congress has been arrested.
The arrested occurred moments after his discussion on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma show. He was arrested by men who introduced themselves as coming from the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service.
He mentioned that the plain-clothed police officers who picked him up arrived with two vehicles – a Toyota Landcruiser and one pickup vehicle with registration number VR 4870-12.
Whiles the outspoken NDC stalwart was making his way to board his car after the show had ended, the officers suddenly approached and provided a warrant for his arrest and later taken away.
A member of the NDC’s communications team Mr. Eric Adjei confirmed the news of Mr. Sammy Gyamfi’s arrest to adomonline.com.
Why he was arrested no one knows but sources say it may be linked to recent complaints of cybercrime lodged against the NDC communicator by the jubilee house. His lawyers and national chairman of NDC, Ofosu Ampofo are currently with him to know the cause of his arrest. Mr. Gyamfi was being investigated since December last year after the alleged cybercrime offenses. He is accused of forgery and publication of false information targeted tarnishing the image of the Akufo-Addo government.
His last visit to the police headquarters in honor of an invitation on December 23 2019 was rescheduled by the security service.
Mr. Gyamfi later filed a suit at the Accra High Court asking for his arrest warrant to be reversed.
