Captain(rtd) Richard Fordjour, the group captain and confidant of the late former president and founder of the National Democratic Congress, flt lt JJ Rawlings, has stated that, the late president died of betrayal from the people he had worked with in the past.
He said this, at a vigil held at the Air Force Mess in Accra in his memory.
According to him, a book indited by Kwamena Ahwoi, the then secretary for Local Government and Minister for local Government in his administration, which described him as “a divisive leader who is incapable of keeping or sustaining friends” “and also a leader who was always intimidated by his subordinates”, was the former president’s death knell.
He accented that,
“Given the benefit of this hindsight, his last days were not his best, apart from his medical condition that got deteriorated”.
