English bodybuilder, weightlifter and character actor in British film and television, Worldwide, who was best known for physically portraying Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy; in 2015, and also starring in a documentary concerning that role, entitled I Am Your Father, David Charles Prowse MBE has died.
His agent, Thomas Bowington, told BBC News that Prowse passed away after a short illness.
In 2018, CNN reported that Prowse was being treated for prostate cancer. The actor is survived by his wife, Norma, and their three children.
