The Minister of State at the Ministry of Interior, Bryan Acheampong has said that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo‘s foreign travels must not be disclosed to the public and be kept top secret.

These statement came after Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, asked questions demanding  the full cost of the President’s foreign trips be disclosed without using the official presidential jet.

Mr. Acheampong stated that the government keeping the president’s foreign travels confidential helps enhance the security of the president.

He said the NDC MP’s questions were needless, speaking on the 2022 budget statement in Parliament.

He said that the safety of the President should be the focus anytime he travels outside the country and not not how much the trip costs.

According to him, “In my capacity as a Member of Parliament with some knowledge on security matters, I have advised the Minister for National Security to continue to keep the information on the Presidential travel secret.

“We cannot play politics about it and make this a pedestrian issue; that is very elementary and basic.”
