Two people were arrested by the Accra Regional Police Command for disrupting the registration process.
Whilst the police were sending them to the police station, seven of their accomplices tried to help them and were also arrested. DSP Effia Tenge, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Command told GNA.
Whiles the registration was ongoing at the E.P. Church registration Centre, Accra New Town, two young men whose names are not available were found holding machetes at the Centre.
Therefore, they were arrested by the police personnel on duty but on the way to the police station, seven of their colleagues crossed the police patrol team in an attempt to forcibly take the two suspects but the police overpowered them and arrested all of them.
They’ve been charged and will be appearing in court on Monday, July 13, 2020.
