Starting a conversation can be really hard sometimes, especially when you are not familiar with the other person.
We meet people everyday, either at work, grocery shopping, walking your dog, at church, in a transport vehicle, and many other places.
In all these places, you may greet people or be asked questions that could lead to a conversation. Sometimes the way in which we reply or start the conversation implies we are not interested and other reasons when we actually mean the opposite.
Here are 4 ways to talk the talk and have an excellent conversation.
- Talk less and listen more. Doing this helps you understand and figure out the persons perspective, that way you can help give solutions rather end the conversation without being solved.
- Use the words, ‘tell me’. This gives the other person a thought of you wanting to know more and boosts their urge to keep talking to you. It also implies you being caring and wanting to help.
- Don’t interrupt or change the subject. This happens quiet a lot in most conversations. We tend to drift off from the subject being discussed when we mention something not related to the subject.
- Show real interest. When having a conversation, let the person know you are interested and want to hear more of what they have to say. By showing actual interest and concern or giving a right expression relating to what is being discussed is a key to ending the conversation in a good way.
