Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., is a Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste known by his stage name Shatta Wale, formerly Bandana.
His best-known singles are ‘Dancehall King’, ‘my level’ and ‘we taking over’ which won him the Artiste of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
In October this year, the award-winning musician, born, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, was arrested for embarking on what was confirmed as a prank in which he claimed to have been shot by unidentified assailants.
Reports on many websites said he had to be rushed to an unnamed hospital’s emergency room due to the severity of his injuries.
The Service confirmed his arrest in a Facebook post on Tuesday, October 19.
According to the report, the singer turned himself in after the Police declared him wanted.
Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, says his encounter with the Police and the subsequent short stint in prison, has disciplined him in an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Wednesday.
Shatta Wale mentioned that this experience with the Police and in remand, has taught him great lessons.
He told Host Andy Dosty that he is now very careful with the kind of things he does as an artiste.
“Discipline! I think in this country we all have to learn how to discipline ourselves and that is what is going to take us far. All the processes I went through came out with strong discipline. As we speak, I feel I might be doing something that might be right but not right in the eyes of the law.”
