The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Central Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ms Irene Oppong, has confirmed the death of 45 year old Kwakye who committed suicide by hanging after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend Sayel, a teacher, after a report was made by a resident of Akotokyir, a Cape Coast suburb, to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Police that he had called his friend,
Kwakye, on his cell phone many times but the phone was off.
The police then headed to Kwakye’s house and found Sayel’s body lying lifeless in a pool of blood in his room. After a cross examination, they found out that, she had been deeply stabbed in her left rib.
A blood-stained black kitchen knife was also found in the room.
The police then proceeded to the Bronyibima M.A. Basic School after their Elmina district received a report that Kwakye had hanged himself in one of the classrooms in the school.
Both bodies have been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
