Tragedy befell residents of Apiate, a suburb at Bogoso in the Western Region of Ghana on Thursday, January 20, 2022, after an explosion.
The Ghana Police Service launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion and found out it was caused by a collision between a vehicle carrying mining explosives and a motorcycle.
The mining vehicle which was containing large amounts of explosives is said to have been moving from Tarkwa and heading towards Chirano mines when it collided with a motorcycle on the stretch of the Bogoso road.
In a Facebook post, the Ghana Police Service, stated that most victims have been rescued and admitted at hospitals and clinics in and around the Municipality.
Part of their statement read,“Preliminary investigation has established that a mining explosive vehicle moving from Tarkwa to Chirano mines collided with a motorcycle resulting in the explosion.”
